Palm Desert, CA-West Coast Turf, the West's largest grower and installer of sod and stolons, is again going to the Super Bowl-this time Super Bowl XXXVIII at Houston's Reliant Stadium. 100,000 square feet West Coast Turf's exclusive "Princess-77" hybrid bermuda sod, overseeded with a bluegrass and ryegrass mix, is being grown at their Casa Grande, AZ facility. Sod will be harvested starting January 10th, over three days, and shipped 1200 miles east before being installed by West Coast Turf crews.

West Coast Turf has supplied the NFL with several other Super Bowl fields, including those for Super Bowl XXVII at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena; XXIX in Miami, FL; XXX in Tempe, AZ; XXXII and XXXVII in San Diego, CA. But this is the first time the sod will be harvested at their Arizona facility. This is also the first time the sod will be installed over an existing field. Ed Mangan, the NFL's Field Director, and longtime NFL Turf Consultant, George Toma, selected West Coast Turf based on previous experience. "We have had a great relationship with West Coast Turf, and have had first-rate results whenever we have used them," said Mangan. "I am confident that we will again get a top quality field from them."
